The Night Before Exams...

Here comes our busiest of days at ISI. we wake up early and open our books, try to recall what we studies in class though we attended very few, most of us study the whole year's syllabus in the night before the exam.

Right from the morning we sit with our books and copies, even before brushing our teeth, in the mess during breakfast u can see students, students to whom books may be compared to their distant relatives, whom the wished were dead and comes to haunt them on the day before exam. the folks of our class sit on the chair, on their left hand lies the notes on the right hand the food.. they two both the things simultaneously... multitasking is the order of the day on the day... for we have no other option other than doing more than one thing at a time... every time on our mind "bhagwan back na lag jaye" "iss baar paas karwa de, agli baar pakka pharunga" wish we had started studying a few more days back, wish we had one more..

Suddenly someone knocks "abey tere paas Stat ka notes hai?" then starts our search of the notes, scanning through all the papers thrown on the ground, finally we find a part of the note lying under the bed, then after about one hour we assemble the complete note then we dash to the "Rustam" xerox so that we have a copy and a hope of not getting a back paper not being chucked out..

Finally the notes are all collected by the evening, then we start studying at our fastest pace, phone calls ringing "abey ye question kaisa banega?" the usual answer from many of the students is "abey ye question to maine dekha hi nahi" then the caller has to try his other options what a pity :( ... one small room and ten people in it, and bundles of papers thrown here and there. suddenly it appears that the room wasnt so small afterall...
chaos over the assignment sheets, solving the questions, rather trying to solve the question, among all the class bunkers sits one SINCERE student who take care of us all. who try desperately to save us.. and there are people who have studied everything and maybe have the intension to chill out or mock us, as when we enter their room they are seen playing DOTA, but they are really good folks and are always there to help us..
night time start at around 11 o'clock and goes on till about 5 am. whoever i ask, the same answer "aaj sala night out maarna parega" and they stay awake the whole night, occasionally going to BABUDA to have a cup of coffee or maggi just to refill themselves up for a hard night ahead.
the night is difficult and is the busiest of all days at ISI. though we experience it every time still we dont start studying long back and no one even thinks about it.. "matter nahi karta, exam ke pehle waise bhi nite out marna hai to ab njoy kar lo"

Throughout the nite we study, study like hell, then night ends at morning 5 with people bidding each other gudnite and all the best... and praying in there minds so that the exam the next day doesnt turn out to be the nightmare...

thats how we are and maybe thats how we will remain...

(plz note: not all are the same, there are folks who do study from before the exams and are really great at it... :P maybe we dont care :D , but we should.. :) )
plz comment..

Abhishek Tewari...

So now its your turn brother... :D Abhishek Tewari aka Tewari.. this is the one of the very few guys i likedd from the starting.. cool and casual.. his favourite line being "matter nahi karta!!" me and tewari were probably the two guys at ISI were surprised to hear that we got selected for this institute.. we dont study at all still we got selected, but this place is great and has loads of wonderful people to hang out with, tewari is among them..

First when i met him he had long hair and he used to flaunt it.. but that didnt remain for long and he had to cut his hair... used to wear a cap then, many of his caps got stolen and a lot many abuses came out of his mouth for his 'cap thief' favourite being "beti****" :) well he looked really funny when bald and specially when he used to miss his long beautiful hair, anyways this guy here is really great and an awesome friend, always there to help, never studies well yes studies like hell on the night before the exams (we all do)

He is a bit different, not like other guys, where every other boy look for girls (hey! not me am committed) he was deeply in love with something else... u may say he has many girlfriends, well yes his love is sports and the names of his love are 'cricket' 'table tennis' 'football' 'badminton' 'volleyball' in all he loved anything that he could lay his hands on, anything that could get him out of study and make him physically exhausted.. any sport being played at ISI (except NFS, DOTA, AOC and rest of the pc games) u name it and he is there... he sleeps like hell.... so much that on every exam day one of us have to go to his room and wake him up... alarm clock and phone calls are of no use to wake him up... he does everything in the last minute...

o yes! he is a vegetarian though he eats egg (i dont know how that makes him a vegan, i mean i really dont understand when people say that "i am veg but i eat egg") thats why he got fed up lately coz in whichever restaurant we went there are not many options for vegans.. most of the time he had to eat paneer while we pounced at the tangri kabaab or the tandoori chicken, so he has decided lately that he will start eating chicken, a wise decision i should say.

he even dances, hip-hop and he is good at that.. okay and recently he has been getting teaching offers, good for us we will be getting lots of treats from him.. he is good at nearly every gam even tic-tac-toe(kattam kutti) and bingo and bets for treat whenever he gets the opportunity, i myself owe him 2 ice cream and one cold drink treat.. :P in short "banda sahi hai" u rock bro.

plzz comment your views about this sports freak...

Rohit Allena....

So the first few days were quiet difficult... became acquainted with few people namely Rohit Allena, one of his close relatives had died around that time for which his head was shaved and he was wearing a cap that time, he was looking funny though he had a sweet smile on his face, he is a fun loving man, the most hilarious was when he showed me a photo of his with his full grown hair which he kept in his purse, felt pity for his hair :P i think i have a photo of his from the first class at the ISI.. yep got that.. its right there, well this is how he looked in the first class... very sweet guy though specially the way he say "hellooo" over the phone while receiving any call is really very sweet... he is a great friend to hang out with, he likes to taste varieties of food, his smile is awesome, he is the first one i ask if i ever wish to have food in some restaurant he is ever ready to go out... hmm so rohit i hope u find ur Nidhi Patnaik, its actually what he imagines his dream girl to be and this is the name of his imagination.. in all he is a very sweet guy....
and by the way if u r wondering who that guy is at the back.. thats Debanjan aka Debuda.. umm... we'll talk about him later though ket this page be dedicated to rohit only :) ( sorry deba, its my blog and i control things here haa haa haa :D ) anyways as time passed Rohit grew his hair, like most people in this world do and he still looks sweet n smart..

that is how he looks now... :)
and this is his picture during holi...

Rohit Rocks... plzz do comment about your views about my friend Rohit...

The First Day of the First year: Meeting New People...

The first day arrives.

All unknown faces, sitting in one classroom and excited to know each other, the students with whom they will be spending the remaining of their years in this institute. I was maybe in the middle, and whoever i was meeting i greeted them and said "hello i am Joydeep" got many warm replies and many ruined my mood :) well it was not their fault many dont like if some unknown fat guy comes to them and introduces without even asking to do so. it irritates me too.

So i met a few people namely ABHISHEK TEWARI, AVI MARATHE these were the two people with whom i first spoke, i liked tewari though, thought he was off my type, fun loving and all and as this one year passed i am very much sure of the fact that he is fun loving :)

O! and there were sitting together in one group as a whole, the TELUGU GANG, comprising of SHEELA SAKETH, ROHIT ALLENA, EADA SURYA TEJA, BANDARU SUNIL KUMAR, JAKKAN PHANINDRA KRISHNAN, and it turned out that it was the most rocking group, so what they had problem communicating with the Bengalis, still the very smartly spoke to us they developed a curiosity to understand Bengali and we developed a curiosity to learn Telugu, but as boys will be boys... the first thing that we learned of the Telugu Language were the SLANGS :) they were great people, specially Saketh ( who recently tasted Vodka and became the first from our class to start drinking ) and Rohit ( who is still searching for his Love :) some girl who may fit the best in his imagination of his dream girl, Nidhi Patnaik )
All this started after i got a call from the Dean at the Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata congratulating me and informing me that i have cleared the written round of the selection test and that i have to appear for the interview at the specified date. The interview went on fine, i have a habbit of smiling without any reason when i get nervous, ok fine i agree that i am a weirdo. but who cares!! even if i was smiling throughout the interview, i got selected.. and so my ISI life started from the 6th of july 2009..
